Overview
Client Due Diligence role focused on conducting due diligence research and checks on clients, related parties and matters to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including KYC and KYB checks, sanctions and PEP and adverse media checks. The role involves liaising with the fee earner, client or other related party to resolve information gaps and supporting the client and matter risk assessment process.
Responsibilities
* Conduct due diligence research and checks on clients, related parties and matters to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including KYC/KYB, sanctions, PEP and adverse media checks.
* Engage with the fee earner, client or other related party to resolve information gaps.
* Prepare Client Risk Assessments and CDD packs for review by the fee earner and actively support/guidance to the fee earner through the client and matter risk assessment process.
* Promptly escalate high-risk matters to the Team Leader with an analysis of risks and proposed mitigation.
* Complete ongoing monitoring on existing clients and their matters, escalating to the Team Leader any risk assessment with a change in risk rating to high; refer complex questions to the Coach and, if required, GCT, with their opinion and proposed solution and promptly agreed actions.
* Conflicts Checks: investigate, analyze and manage conflicts by querying IM systems, running searches to establish potential conflicts or confidentiality concerns, and engaging with fee earners.
* Document decisions and analysis and file all documents on IM systems.
* Provide guidance to fee earners on compliance with policies and procedures relating to onboarding conflicts.
* Escalate complex queries to the Coach with their opinion and proposed solution and follow up on agreed actions; promptly escalate any complex/high-risk conflicts checks to the Team Leader.
* Communication and Customer Focus: maintain effective communication and excellent customer service with internal stakeholders to gather information and resolve issues during onboarding.
* Continuous Improvement: make recommendations to the Team Leader on process or procedural improvements and develop themes with colleagues; participate in responsible business programmes and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications
* Strong knowledge and understanding of SRA Standards and Regulations relating to conflicts and client due diligence, AML regulations, sanctions regimes, and other financial crime prevention legislation.
* Experience in conducting due diligence checks and conflict searches in a law firm.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify and assess risks and conflicts.
* Proficient in using client due diligence software systems and related tools.
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across the organisation; demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships.
* Knowledge of 3e is desirable.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements for other professional industries such as FCA or international law firm regulations.
