Job Summary: London North West Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Gastroenterology Registrar to join a team of Gastroenterologists based at Central Middlesex Hospital. This full-time post would suit a registrar who seeks a challenge in providing excellent Gastroenterology and Hepatology inpatient care, delivering an outpatient service, and developing skills in endoscopy. The post holder will undertake two outpatient clinics, conduct ward rounds with consultant supervision and have one training endoscopy list per week.
Responsibilities
* Work in the busy and friendly Gastroenterology department at Central Middlesex Hospital.
* Work on the wards supporting the gastroenterology team and attend outpatient clinics and endoscopy.
* Provide training and clinical experience for UK and overseas doctors; this post is suitable for those needing Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine experience before applying for a training or research position.
* Be part of the acute gastroenterology service; collaborate with two other Deanery appointed registrars, supported by a team of SHOs and FY1 doctors.
* Participate in ward rounds (with consultant supervision), support outpatient clinics and endoscopy lists.
* Engage in educational supervision and pursue research opportunities where available.
Qualifications
* Essential: MBBS or equivalent, MRCP Part 2, full GMC registration with license to practice; clinical skills and experience in gastroenterology; ability to cover general medicine on-call at SpR level; experience in teaching and training junior medical staff; ability to organize and manage staff and resources; experience in service development & quality improvement; ability to use evidence base and clinical audits in decision making; strong written and spoken English, empathy, teamwork and leadership skills.
* Desirable: MRCP (UK); skills in endoscopy; experience of service audit, design or change management; management qualification or current study towards management qualification; publications in peer-reviewed journals.
