B&M have an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified and technically confident accountant to join our Group Reporting Team as an IFRS Reporting Analyst. This role supports the Group’s statutory reporting and technical accounting requirements within a FTSE‑250 listed retail business with annual revenues more than £5bn, helping to ensure robust IFRS application and high‑quality external reporting.
Working closely with senior colleagues, you will support the year‑end and half‑year reporting processes, contribute to technical accounting assessments, and help maintain a strong financial reporting control environment appropriate for a large, complex, high‑volume retailer. The role offers excellent exposure to IFRS, reporting governance and audit interaction, with clear opportunities to develop technical depth.
This is a great opportunity within a FTSE‑250 listed retailer, offering hands‑on exposure to IFRS reporting, technical accounting and reporting governance, close support from senior finance colleagues, and the chance to help strengthen the quality, consistency and transparency of the Group’s external reporting.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Supporting the delivery of annual and interim reports under IFRS, including preparation of primary statements, disclosures, and audit‑ready supporting schedules.
* Coordinating reporting timelines and inputs across finance teams to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely external reporting.
* Maintaining and supporting Group accounting policies, technical papers, and IFRS compliance (e.g., IFRS 15, 16, 9; IAS 12, 37), including monitoring new standards and implementation.
* Contributing to financial reporting governance, including documentation of key judgements, controls, and review processes.
* Support external audits by coordinating requests, preparing evidence, and assisting with audit committee and investor reporting materials.
* Ensure technical accounting conclusions and disclosures are well‑documented, consistent, and appropriately escalated.
* Assist with consolidation, reporting systems, and balance sheet substantiation to ensure data integrity, reconciliations, and audit trails.
* Contribute to process improvements in reporting, controls, and templates to enhance efficiency and quality.
* Provide IFRS research and analysis to support stakeholders, ensuring consistent treatment across complex areas in collaboration with tax, treasury, and legal teams.
* Support documentation of key judgements, estimates, and sensitivities, and contribute to training and guidance to strengthen IFRS capability across teams.
What we are looking for:
* Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS or equivalent) with a strong interest in IFRS, financial standards and reporting governance.
* Strong attention to detail and a controls mindset, with the ability to produce clear documentation and maintain high compliance standards.
* Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across finance teams and support responses to auditor queries.
* Experience in audit, group reporting or statutory accounts preparation (including exposure to IFRS disclosures), either in practice or industry.
* A keen problem solver: you take ownership to find and implement effective solutions, working independently under pressure.
* Exposure to multi‑entity group structures and/or consolidation, and an interest in retail/high‑volume business models.
We offer you a range of great benefits including discount in our stores, a colleague portal offering discount for numerous retailers, hospitality & much more.
