ARGYLL AND BUTE HSCP

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPIST (CBT)

COWAL AND BUTE

COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE

22.2 HOURS BAND 7

PERMANENT

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT Therapist) to join our Adult Mental Health Psychological Therapies team in the beautiful surroundings of Cowal and Bute. The post holder will be aligned with the Cowal and Bute Community Mental Health Teams, although may at times be required to provide a service across Argyll and Bute depending on service need. You will need to be enthusiastic about multi-disciplinary working and be experienced in managing a caseload. Clinical expertise in mental health attained through relevant experience and knowledge of current national policies is essential, and you will need to be confident in the assessment and treatment of complex cases. The expectation is that you will be comfortable with using a blended intervention model utilising virtual clinics as well as face to face contact. Although you may at times be expected to travel between various locations within Argyll and Bute, new ways of working are being used to ensure that rural populations are not disadvantaged.

Applicants must be qualified to at least Diploma level in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, be accredited or working towards accreditation with the BABCP, have a relevant Master’s Degree (post holder can be from different professional backgrounds – Nursing, Psychology, Occupational therapy, Social work), and have excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. Applications are welcomed from those who want to work flexibly, with a hybrid model of remote and on-site working requirements. A potential relocation package may be available.

NHS Highland covers the largest geographical area of all of the Health Boards in Scotland (41% of the mainland). The population served by NHS Highland, including Argyll and Bute, is over 310,000. It is considered to be an area of outstanding natural beauty and one of the last great Western European wilderness areas.

NHS Highland is divided into two areas, North Highland and the South Highland area of Argyll & Bute. Argyll & Bute has a population of around 24,000 and is divided into four areas: Helensburgh; Cowal and Bute; Oban and the Isles; and Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay. It covers a large geographical area including urban hubs, rural life and some 30 islands, offering a unique career experience and an opportunity for an excellent work life balance. It also hosts Naval bases and their communities, and on the east side of the patch is close enough for a day trip to the city of Glasgow.
