Equans is looking for a Shift Maintenance Assistant to join our team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 39.375 hours per week. This is based on a shift pattern of four days on, four days off, made up of working two days (Apply online only) and two nights (Apply online only). Working as part of a shift team, Maintenance Assistants will carry out fault finding, repairs, and other tasks within their skill set. Supervisors and managers will support and offer guidance and instruction for more complex faults. What will you deliver? Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to his/her skill level, without supervision Perform a wide range of work to his/her skill level. e.g., lamping, unblocking toilets, minor painting, assisting trade staff on PPM duties, fault-finding on non-complex equipment and assisting in electrical/plumbing/building installation work Understand the general working of the hospital's Estates Department, so that work can be carried out in the most efficient manner and be pro-active in developing new ways of working Use all relevant tools and equipment as appropriate to his/her skill level Requirement to learn new techniques with training, as necessary. This may include for example Procedures for releasing trapped persons in lifts and Statutory requirements for ladder inspections Understand fully the inter-relationship between various maintenance crafts Clean/tidy/dispose of waste from all workshops, plantrooms and communal areas Unblock macerators, toilets, urinals, and sinks etc. Repair internal and external drainage systems. Previous appropriate working experience or training, in skills development, including the safe use of tools and equipment Working towards a formal qualification in a relevant discipline Experience in a building maintenance or industrial environment Able to work as part of a team Able to record information accurately e.g., log sheets, list of material requirements Ability to use hand tools, associated trade tools, equipment and machinery for maintenance, repair, and minor improvement/new work to required standard Understand requirements of working in an environment similar to that found in health care premises This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
