Senior Support Worker (waking nights) Hours Available: Full-time (x3-12 hour shifts) The Senior Support Worker will provide high-quality, person-centered support to individuals with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, or autism. This role involves mentoring and coaching staff, ensuring best practices in support delivery, and empowering individuals to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives. Benefits: Salary: £24,285-£30,000 per annum (FTE, depending on experience). Holidays: 28-33 days annually (pro-rata for part-time staff). Pension: 4% employer contribution (5% employee contribution). NISCC Registration: Initial fees covered, with annual fees reimbursed for staff with 3 years of service. Responsibilities: 1. Providing Person-Centered Support: Build positive relationships with supported individuals and their families. Deliver tailored support as outlined in Person-Centered Portfolios and Behavior Support Plans. Act as a role model, promoting best practices and maintaining professional boundaries. 2. Supporting Health and Safety: Promote physical and emotional well-being and assist with personal care if required. Educate individuals on safeguarding and report any concerns promptly. 3. Encouraging Independence and Community Engagement: Empower individuals to make informed decisions and advocate for themselves. Facilitate participation in social, leisure, volunteering, and employment activities. Support individuals in maintaining relationships and planning holidays. 4. Coaching and Mentoring Staff: Mentor and coach staff in delivering person-centered support and managing challenging behavior. Lead shifts and provide supervision to assigned staff. Promote volunteer involvement and report any poor practices. 5. Administration and Monitoring: Maintain accurate records on medication, finances, risks, and incidents. Conduct Health & Safety checks and escalate maintenance issues as required. Criteria: 1. One of the following: 3 years' experience in a health or social care setting. or QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent*) AND have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a health and social care setting * It is the applicant's responsibility to demonstrate how their qualification is equivalent. or QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent*) AND have a minimum of 1 year's experience in a health and social care setting * It is the applicant's responsibility to demonstrate how their qualification is equivalent. or Psychology Degree AND have a minimum of 1 years' experience in a health and social care setting. or Psychology Masters Degree AND have a minimum of 1 years' experience in a health and social care setting. 2. At least 1 year's experience of working with people with a learning disability OR autism. 3. At least 1 year's experience in managing behaviours of concern through the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support. 4. Full, valid driving licence or an ability to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post. 5. Be registered, or be eligible for registration on appointment, on the appropriate part of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) or other relevant professional body.
