Overview
The Environment Agency is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Wessex Agriculture team and conduct regulatory inspections across Wessex. You will support farmers in improving their environmental compliance, help safeguard water quality, and, when necessary, take enforcement action under the Farming Rules for Water 2018.
Responsibilities
* Carry out targeted farm inspections and collect data.
* Produce detailed reports on findings.
* Engage with farmers and influence them to change practices, including having challenging conversations.
* Take regulatory enforcement action when required, including prosecutions and serving notices.
* Respond to incidents and provide business‑continuity support as part of an incident role; additional payment may apply.
* Travel extensively across the Wessex area; vehicle transport will be provided for site inspections.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence.
* IT skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), comfortable using an iPad and a laptop daily, and capable of inputting inspection findings into databases.
* Willingness to undertake enforcement action where necessary.
* Understanding of UK agriculture and experience working with farmers or in a related sector.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Ability to have challenging conversations with stakeholders.
