We are revolutionising how the world moves and we need an experienced Safety, Health & Environment Advisor to join our LH Group team in Burton on Trent. Your focus will be on maintaining compliant safety, health and environmental management systems across all activities and promoting a positive safety culture.
Role Overview
Position: Safety, Health & Environment Advisor
Salary: £Competitive
Location: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire (DE13 8EN)
Hours: Monday‑Thursday 08:00‑16:30, Friday 08:00‑13:00 – 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, Full‑Time
How You Will Make a Difference
Support the development, implementation and maintenance of compliant safety, health and environmental management systems across all activities. Compile and maintain records and logs to facilitate KPI reporting. Promote a positive safety culture and support functional and zone leaders in managing their responsibilities.
Typical Day
* Provide occupational health, safety and environmental service to operational activities and personnel.
* Support the SHE department’s strategic activities to deliver people‑first commitments and legislative compliance.
* Manage key improvement activities to support implementation and continual governance.
* Assist managers and staff to establish and maintain health, safety and environmental improvements.
* Manage the internal and external audit program, ensuring compliance with all legislation and management system requirements.
* Identify opportunities for continuous safety, health and environmental improvement.
* Support external activities, including regulatory, audit and trade bodies (e.g., HSE, EA, BSI).
* Participate in accident and incident investigations.
* Deliver site inductions for new employees and contractors.
What We’re Looking For
* Willingness to travel to other Wabtec UK sites and customer locations when required.
* NEBOSH Certificate in Safety, Health and Environment.
* Proven experience designing and delivering HSE training.
* Commercial/legal awareness.
* Excellent understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
* Experience with ISO 45001, 18001 & 9001.
* Sound IT skills – particularly Excel – and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and MRP.
* Excellent organisational and prioritising skills.
