Network Architect – Professional Services
Location: National (SCC operates hybrid working, which comprises a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary Package: Competitive salary plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday

Role purpose
Demand for SCC’s Professional services continues to grow both from existing and new customers. This has created an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Network Architect to join our talented hybrid team, based in Birmingham, London or Manchester.
Security clearance or willingness to apply will be required for this role.
Key responsibilities
* Creating high level and low level designs
* Performing network (WAN, LAN, WLAN and firewall) configuration, deployment, troubleshooting to deliver against your network designs
* Writing and maintaining technical documentation to professional standards
* Contribution to the continuous improvement programmes of all technology platforms and processes within the Professional Services area
* Liaison with third party vendors (such as Cisco, Aruba or Fortinet) and escalation when necessary
* Contributing to delivering team performance
Skills and experience
Essential skills
* Minimum CCNP level accreditation, preferably CCIE level
* Appropriate certifications in core technology platforms (CISCO, HP, Fortinet, Checkpoint)
* Excellent knowledge of Cisco portfolio including switching and routing products, Meraki design and deployment, Identity Service Engine
* Excellent knowledge of Fortinet firewalls, including Fortinet switching platforms
* Excellent knowledge of Aruba switching and wireless platforms, including Clearpass
* Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting skills
* Strong background with core network technologies in large‑scale deployments
* Experience of working with enterprise level clients
* Demonstrating excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to troubleshoot complex, technical, multi‑site and multi‑disciplinary problems and incidents
* Meticulous approach, effective written and oral communicator
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Strong background with core network, computer and storage technologies in large‑scale deployments
Desirable skills
* Experience of enterprise grade networking environments
* Experience of software defined network technologies, SDWAN and SASE
* ITIL qualification or awareness of the ITIL processes
* Experience of working in a multi‑client solutions provider
* Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent preferred
