Our client, a notable entity within the Defence & Security sector, is in search of a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their radar mechanical engineering team in Cowes. Key Responsibilities: Leading the design and development of mechanical systems with a focus on thermal and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis Overseeing the application of BAE-Mechanical design principles in complex defence projects Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of engineering solutions Conducting detailed thermal performance assessments and providing recommendations for improvements Utilising Siemens NX and other relevant tools for design and analysis Ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols, particularly within the SC security level Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team Engaging in on-site work (3-4 days per week) as part of a hybrid working arrangement Job Requirements: Experience in mechanical design within defence or related industries Proficiency in thermal analysis and CFD methodologies Competence in using Siemens NX for mechanical design and analysis Strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to innovative solutions Ability to work effectively under the SC security level Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Effective communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders Engineering degree or equivalent qualification preferred Role Details: Duration: 18 months Type of Job: Contract Location: Hybrid - 3-4 days on-site at Cowes If you possess expertise in mechanical design, thermal dynamics, and CFD within a defence context, we encourage you to apply now for this exciting opportunity with our client.
