Job Title: Counterbalance Forklift Driver (Fragile Materials Handling) Location: Wakefield, WF10 Job Type: Temp to Perm Salary: £12.63 Working Hours: 6am - 2pm or 10am - 10pm Job Overview: We are seeking a careful and experienced Counterbalance Forklift Driver with a background in handling fragile or delicate materials. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of how to safely move and store items like glass, ceramics, or other easily damaged goods, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety. Key Responsibilities: Operate a Counterbalance Forklift to transport, load, and unload fragile materials across the site. Safely handle and manoeuvre glass panels, ceramics, or other delicate items in line with company and health & safety guidelines. Accurately place materials into racking or designated storage areas without causing damage. Support warehouse or production teams in organizing stock and preparing items for dispatch. Conduct daily pre-use checks and basic maintenance on forklift equipment. Ensure all goods are handled, stored, and moved in a manner that minimizes risk of breakage or defects. Report any incidents, near misses, or quality issues immediately. Maintain a clean and organized working environment. Requirements: Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent). Proven experience working with fragile materials such as glass, ceramics, mirrors, or other sensitive goods. Strong understanding of safe lifting, positioning, and transportation of breakable items. Good communication and teamwork skills. Attention to detail and excellent spatial awareness. Ability to work in a physically demanding role and on your feet for most of the shift. Desirable Qualifications: Experience with additional equipment such as overhead cranes, vacuum lifters, or glazing frames. Additional forklift licences (e.g., Reach, Pivot Steer).
