Senior Support Data Engineer
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £60,000 + Benefits + Bonus
Location: Remote (2 days per month in Nottingham)
My client is on the lookout for a talented Senior Data Engineer (Support) to join their growing team. You’ll be working closely with clients to provide top-notch support after deployment, making sure their data platforms run smoothly and efficiently. Plus, you’ll help improve how the team works and find smarter ways to do things.
Taking full ownership of client support post-deployment — keeping systems performing well and clients happy.
Leading technical investigations to solve tricky data issues quickly and effectively.
Helping to improve support frameworks and the way the team operates.
Hands-on experience with Azure Data Platforms — think Data Lake, SQL DB/Warehouse, and Synapse.
Good knowledge of BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or Google Data Studio.
A solid understanding of data modelling, profiling, and integration architecture.
Experience with data warehouse development, SQL performance tuning, and managing metadata.
Familiarity with Data Vault methodology and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Snowflake, or Databricks.
Support & Teamwork:
Managing upgrades, deployments, and updates smoothly with stakeholders.
Leading support incident triage and resolution on critical systems.
Keeping an eye on team performance and making sure we hit our SLAs.
Bonus Points:
Knowledge of ITIL, incident management, and tools like HubSpot Service Tool.
Comfortable working in Agile or hybrid delivery setups.
Any exposure to Microsoft Fabric is a plus.
You’ll also lead a small but impactful team of Data Engineers — mentoring and coaching them, encouraging open communication, and supporting their growth. You’ll give clear feedback and help guide their career development.
You keep the support function running smoothly, hitting SLAs and innovating where you can.
You’ve got a degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, or something similar.
You’ve spent at least 5 years working in Data Engineering, with 2+ years in a support or consultancy role.
You’re confident chatting with both tech teams and business folks about complex issues.
