Pharmacy Assistant
An opportunity has arisen for an additional pharmacy assistant to join our team at Lewis Chemist. We are a thriving, family-run, independent community pharmacy looking for an enthusiastic new team member.
This is a permanent, full-time position, beginning November 2025. It is a varied role, which includes covering the shop counter, dealing with stock, and some administrative duties. A dispensing qualification is not required.
This position is for 4 days a week (Tuesday to Friday, 9am-6pm, with a 1-hour lunch break).
As a pharmacy assistant, you will be a core member of the pharmacy and local healthcare team, working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to help patients. You will be working in a fast-paced environment to ensure the safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medications to patients. Although it is not essential that you have worked in a pharmacy before, you should be committed to providing exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities
* Customer care
* Receiving and handing out prescriptions
* Ordering stock, checking, and accepting deliveries and updating stock control system
* Stocking the shop and shelves, stock rotation, pricing goods and cashing up the till
* Answering face-to-face enquiries from the surgery and patients
* Selling to and advising customers on over-the-counter medicines
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the pharmacy
* Keeping updated with current pharmacy practice, new drugs, and their uses
* Respecting and maintaining confidentiality of information concerning customers, colleagues, company policies and statistics in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation
Essential criteria
* Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude
* Responsible, accurate and methodical
* A desire to work in a healthcare setting
* Ability to work well in a team environment and liaise with other health care professionals
* Ability to multi-task and cope well under pressure
* Good computer literacy
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working in pharmacy
* Medicines counter assistant qualification
* Customer care experience
* Stock maintenance experience
* Knowledge of EPoS software
* 5 GCSEs at Grade C or equivalent including Maths, English and Science
Applicants may be required to complete a DBS check.
