Birtley Medical Group are seeking a friendly, well-organised Medical Receptionist to join our team on a 30hr per week contract. The ideal candidate will have experience in a patient-facing healthcare role and be committed to delivering excellent customer service. Strong communication, IT, and administrative skills are essential. Experience in General Practice and knowledge of EMIS Web are preferred but not essential. You must be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Please note, this role involves a variety or shift patterns, including early and late morning starts, as well as early evening finishes.
Main duties of the job
Provide efficient and effective reception and clerical support to the Practice
Book patients into the computerised appointment system
Issue repeat or pre-arranged prescriptions, sick notes, and completed medical reports
Collect fees for non-NHS services
Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
Deliver a high standard of customer care

Job responsibilities
To provide administrative dutiesincluding but not limited to:
Processingpatient registrations
Scanningand Read Coding incoming correspondence
Navigatingsoftware systems to identify results and support audit trails
Respondto telephone enquiries, faxes and emails promptly,
Actionoutgoing/incoming calls to patients, hospital staff etc.
To provide Receptionist duties includingbut not limited to:
Bookingin patients on the computerised appointments system
Issuing(repeat or pre-arranged) prescriptions, sick notes, or completed medicalreports
Collectingfees for non-NHS work
Answeringall incoming calls in an efficient helpful manner, directing calls to theappropriate extension quickly and effectively
Dealingwith hospital letters, reports, test results etc, according to protocol
Arranginghome visits and arrange appropriate administration i.e. Notes summary, ifrequired
Person Specification
Experience
* 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) A* - C including English and Maths
* High level of written and oral skills
* High level of computer skills including word processing and spread sheet applications
* Good numeracy, accuracy and literacy skills.
* A positive attitude, committed to excellent customer service
* Ability to meet deadlines
* Proven ability to work well under pressure
* A high regard for confidentiality
* Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail
* Strong team worker
* Working with EMIS Web
* Working in an administrative or receptionist role in a GP Practice or NHS hospital setting
£12.21 an hour(Increase currently under review)
