An exciting opportunity has arisen within our UHBW Dental Production Laboratories for a forward-thinking Dental Technician to work with our Production Laboratory team at Bristol Dental Hospital on a 12-month fixed-term basis. The post holder is responsible for the design, planning, and construction of a wide range of custom-made dental and oro-facial devices. The post holder will work on a rotational basis across the Prosthodontic, Conservation, and Orthodontic laboratories, as needed.
The post holder is expected to develop new skills aligned with experience, emerging practices, qualifications, and modern digital workflows. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential.

Applications are invited from Dental Technicians who are fully registered with the General Dental Council and possess a recognized academic qualification in dental technology. We welcome applications from those with experience in both commercial dental laboratories and NHS hospital settings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Construct models for diagnostic treatment planning and appliance fabrication.
2. Construct, repair, and adapt a variety of custom-made dental and oro-facial appliances within the designated laboratory specialism.
3. Familiarity with transfer records, articulators, and occlusal techniques.
4. Analyze treatment plans and technical prescriptions, redesigning as necessary.
5. Scan models and import intra-oral scans for digital archiving and treatment planning.
6. Order stock using the Trust system.
7. Maintain accurate laboratory records for audits and compliance with UK Medical Devices Regulation.
8. Perform basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
9. Assist with research projects, surveys, and service audits.
10. Follow laboratory policies and procedures.
11. Liaise directly with clinicians and patients to provide technical advice, discuss case requirements, and ensure delivery of dental appliances, addressing communication barriers.
12. Communicate effectively with consultants and healthcare staff.
13. Maintain concentration during appliance and model fabrication.
