Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and proactive Senior Carer – Activities Champion to lead and support our residents with engaging, meaningful, and structured activities during the morning and afternoon periods. This dual-role position combines the responsibilities of a senior carer with a strong focus on enhancing the wellbeing of residents through social interaction, stimulation, and purposeful activity.
In addition to leading activities, the successful candidate will work closely with care staff to assist with the serving of meals, ensuring mealtimes are pleasant, supportive, and meet the individual needs of each resident.
Key Responsibilities:Activities & Engagement (Primary Role)
* Plan, organise, and deliver a variety of structured activities in the morning and afternoon that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs.
* Encourage resident participation in activities, promoting inclusion, independence, and social interaction.
* Create a warm and engaging atmosphere during activities that fosters emotional and mental wellbeing.
* Collaborate with other staff, residents, and families to gather input and feedback on the activities program.
* Maintain accurate records of activities delivered and resident participation.
* Support residents one-to-one where group participation is not suitable.
* Promote and celebrate special occasions, seasonal events, and themed days.
Care & Mealtime Support
* Assist care staff with the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring residents are supported to eat and drink in a dignified and respectful manner.
* Monitor residents during mealtimes for any signs of difficulty or concern and report accordingly.
* Help maintain a calm, clean, and pleasant dining environment.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to residents during and after meals as needed.
Skills & Experience:
* Experience in a senior carer role or equivalent in a care setting.
* Experience in planning or delivering activities in a care environment is highly desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Genuine passion for working with older people and enhancing their quality of life.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Compassionate, patient, and proactive approach.
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards it) preferred.
A full enhanced disclosure must be provided, the cost of this will be met by the employee. The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday between 9-4pm with an hour unpaid break. You will need to have the Right to Work in the UK, as we are NOT able to offer Health and Care Worker visas.
