The Counter Fraud Investigator is responsible for the day-to-day investigations across the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Driver/Rider/Vehicle environments.

These roles will primarily work with Driver related investigations, although you will need to be highly adaptable and flexible, adjusting to the requirements of the role as and when business needs arise.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

* Adopting the role of “Lead Investigator” when allocated, with the responsibility of planning, preparing, and managing the investigations to a criminal standard based on evidence.
* Ensuring investigations are conducted in a manner which is only evidence based.
* Investigating all allocated reports of suspected theory and/or practical driving tests (including impersonations and technology assisted. cheating at tests) and malpractice against the agency.
* Investigating all allocated reports of suspected illegal driving instruction and malpractice against the agency.
* You will plan, prepare, and manage all investigations allocated to you to ensure all reasonable lines of enquiry are followed.
* Act as the focal point for the collection and evaluation of evidence and the creation of case files.
* Preparing full reports and papers for prosecution cases and / or Public Enquires to critical deadlines.
* You will ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, during the investigation through to the case management. Conducting investigations in line with current best practices, Police & Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), Criminal Procedure & Investigations Act (CPIA), Data Protection Act (DPA), & Freedom of Information (FOI) and all Scottish equivalents.
* Provide the department manager with regular updates and progress reports for cases they are managing or are involved with.
* You will liaise with other government departments and Police Forces where their involvement in the work would be beneficial to the end outcome of protecting citizens.
* Appear in court as an expert witness.
* Planning and executing surveillance on target nominals, including dealing with Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) issues.
