Geo - Environmental Engineer/Contaminated Land Officer / Environmental Consultant (Contract)
Location: Primarily office-based with occasional site visits
Contract Length: Initial 6 months (with likely 3-month extension)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Arrangement: Office Based
Rate: £35-£45 p/h
Overview
Our client is working closely with local councils on an environmental project focused on contaminated land. They are seeking a contractor to support the identification, assessment, and reporting of land contamination risks across both existing and newly identified sites. This is a great opportunity for someone with early-career experience looking to build on their technical knowledge within a structured project environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake contaminated land assessments across a range of sites
* Review and analyse environmental and historical site data
* Produce clear, accurate technical reports for internal and external stakeholders
* Support the identification of previously unrecorded or unassessed sites
* Work collaboratively with local councils and internal teams
* Conduct occasional site visits where required
Requirements
* 2-3 years' experience in contaminated land, geo-environmental, or environmental consultancy
* Understanding of contaminated land legislation and risk assessment processes
* Experience in report writing and data interpretation
* Ability to work independently within a project-driven environment
* Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
* Previous experience working with local authorities or public sector projects
* Familiarity with UK contaminated land guidance (e.g. CLR11)
Contract Details
* Initial 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension (project running through to next year)
* Predominantly office-based role with limited site work
