Salary: £40,777 - £45,091 a yearHours: 37 hours a week Contract Type: Permanent Closing Date: Sunday 19th January 2026 Location: The Council House/Hybrid Working The Council’s IT Services department is seeking a professional and enthusiastic Cyber Security Officer to join a small team of Security engineers responsible for maintaining the Security posture in a complex evolving environment. Support services for the organisation to ensure that the councils Infrastructures are patched and suitably protected against all known threats. Contribute towards the renewal of IT Security compliance targets. Ensure secure design for new IT infrastructure. Work with the IT team, 3rd parties and non IT staff to identify and remediate security threats. The opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies. Ability to provide a wider Infrastructure support and development. Managing Incidents, problems, and requests. Ensure IT Security Processes and Policies are followed and reviewed. Managing customers and third parties. Working independently and as part of a team to deliver excellent IT support. Lead on high profile Securiy projects delivery to tight time scales. Able to provide management cover for the Lead Cyber Secuity Officer. Report writing and technical documentation. Training and development for junior staff. About You To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have... Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a Cyber Security role covering Microsoft products, SIEM, SOC liaison, virtualisation, Hyperconverged, CITRIX, Backups, Networking and Cloud technology. Demonstrate strong technical ability in multiple technologies. Able to show a deep understanding of Cyber Security challenges. Able to show a deep understanding of Cyber Security tools and process. Excellent problem solving and customer management skills. Proven experience working independently and as part of a team. Lead on high profile project delivery to tight time scales. Objective driven. Able to provide management cover for the Security Team Leader. Effective communication skills. Highly tuned problem-solving skills. Proven track record developing junior staff’s skills Next Steps
