Overview

Are you passionate about working with people and being part of their journey to find employment? We’re recruiting an Employment Specialist to join our team. The Employment Specialist works with customers to identify employment opportunities and support them into sustainable employment, managing a caseload of clients with disabilities and/or health support needs. The role involves providing person-centred advice and guidance, building relationships with referral partners and local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment.

Location: Lowestoft. Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon-Thu 8.30 am–5.00 pm, Fri 8.30 am–4.30 pm). Closing Date: 18 September 2025.

Salary and benefits are offered as a competitive package dependent on experience, with a salary range of £31,000 to £32,000 per annum.


Key Responsibilities

* Meet and strive to exceed personal performance targets, Key Performance Indicators and all Quality and Compliance measures.
* Progressively manage a caseload of referred customers with a disability and/or health support needs using a range of strategies to help them overcome barriers to gaining employment.
* Provide specialist support to customer groups with learning disabilities and other complex needs.
* Undertake in-depth assessments to fully understand a customer’s circumstances, preferences and barriers to progression to employment.
* Achieve the Customer Service and Quality Standards required on the programme.
* Co-produce personalised, tailored Action Plans with SMART targets to enable positive and timely progression.
* Utilise local specialist services to address issues (e.g., substance misuse, anger management, debt advice, health and vocational training).
* Use social prescribing to improve customer circumstances (e.g., healthy eating classes, smoking cessation, social groups).
* Collaborate with multiple agencies to develop holistic approaches; with customer consent, undertake case conferences with external agencies.
* Understand the local labour market to source suitable job opportunities.
* Undertake direct marketing to employers using digital formats (email, LinkedIn, etc.).
* Identify employer recruitment needs and conduct tailored pre-screens and group assessments.
* Co-produce in-work support plans with participants and employers to ensure a smooth transition into work; facilitate job carving where appropriate.
* Promote Health & Safety in the customer’s workplace and report as appropriate to ensure a safe environment.
* Develop knowledge of local signposting services (disabilities, housing, benefits, etc.).
* Maintain IT files and records to required compliance and quality standards.
* Work from local hubs and community outreach locations to increase service accessibility.


Skills and Experience

* A good working knowledge of the local labour market in the specified geographical locations.
* Experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs, particularly those with learning disabilities.
* Full IT literacy using Microsoft Office 365 and Teams; comfortable with digital technologies.
* Experience of working in a target-driven environment and delivering services to meet contractual and quality standards.
* Knowledge of the employability and/or recruitment industry.
* Understanding of Supported Employment opportunities and associated frameworks (IPS/SEQF).
* Experience of working with people in advice and guidance environments.
* Full driving license to enable deployment across a geographical area, when required.
