Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Children’s Home Care Manager to lead a residential children’s home in Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people aged 7 to 17 with learning disabilities and autism.
You will oversee a nurturing, therapeutic home that promotes growth, independence, and emotional wellbeing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and ensuring the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the children’s residential home in line with Ofsted regulations
* Ensure a safe, supportive, and child-centred environment
* Oversee care planning, safeguarding, and behaviour support strategies
* Recruit, train, and supervise a team of care professionals
* Develop positive relationships with children, families, professionals, and external agencies
* Maintain accurate records, reports, and regulatory compliance
* Promote and implement therapeutic practices within the home
* Support transition planning for admissions and discharges
Requirements:
* Minimum 2 years of experience in a residential children’s care setting
* Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role (Deputy Manager or Registered Manager)
* NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care or Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete)
* In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, autism, and children’s emotional needs
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour with compassion and professionalism
* A valid driving licence is preferred
