About the Opportunity
Staffordshire Police is seeking motivated and detail‑focused individuals to join our Forensics Department as Forensic Investigators (FIs). This is a key frontline role supporting the investigation of crime by attending scenes, recovering evidence, and helping to bring offenders to justice.
Our forensic services are essential to supporting victims, safeguarding communities, and delivering high‑quality investigations. As part of our commitment to excellence, we maintain the highest standards of practice in line with ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17025, and the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice and Conduct.

Role Purpose
* Attend and examine all levels of crime scenes (Levels 1–3), using professional judgement to recover, record, and preserve forensic evidence.
* Contribute to and adapt forensic strategies alongside other Forensic Investigators, Crime Scene Managers, and Forensic Coordinators.
* Conduct dynamic risk assessments and ensure initial crime scene preservation where required.
* Use recognised, validated forensic techniques and maintain accurate contemporaneous notes in line with ISO requirements.
* Capture digital evidence using standard and enhanced photographic and video techniques.
* Provide factual reports, Streamlined Forensic Reports (SFRs), and statements; attend court to give evidence.
* Support and mentor colleagues at more complex scenes under the direction of a CSM.
* Ensure integrity of evidence, compliance with quality procedures, and professional standards.
