About the role
Heron Lodge is designed in a charming Tudor style, with its distinctive timber-framed façade and soft cream plasterwork, giving it the warmth and character of a traditional English country residence.
The home sits in the scenic heart of the Norfolk Broads, surrounded by mature gardens and peaceful greenery. It offers nursing and residential care for up to 30 residents, providing a balanced mix of clinical support and homely familiarity. Interiors are warm, comfortable and practical, with accessible lounges, dining areas and garden views that keep the setting calm and welcoming.
As our Care Home Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the home. As a regulated business, we expect the candidate to be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and be familiar with all the relevant legislation and regulations. You will be responsible for ensuring that the home provides high-quality care and support to our residents, whilst meeting financial targets and maintaining full occupancy.
You will be supported externally by dedicated Operations and Central teams, and within the home you will have the support of a Deputy Manager and Administrator, as well as Hospitality and Housekeeping teams. These teams will collaborate with you to ensure smooth operations and exceptional care for our residents.

Key duties and responsibilities
• Provide leadership and direction to the home’s staff team, promoting a culture of kindness, compassion, and empathy.
• Ensure the home meets all regulatory requirements, including those set by the CQC, and maintain excellent standards of care and support.
• Manage the home’s budget, ensuring financial targets are met and costs are effectively managed.
• Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan to maintain full occupancy and promote the home’s services to potential residents, families, and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and all stakeholders, responding effectively to their needs and concerns.
Skills and attributes
1. Previous experience managing a nursing / residential home.
2. A strong working knowledge of CQC standards with a proven record of working towards achieving Outstanding ratings.
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external professionals, families, and visitors.
4. A proven track record of marketing and business skills within the private care sector, running a commercially successful care home.
5. Enthusiasm and passion for developing high levels of person-centred care.
6. Ability to actively participate in the growth and development of the care service.
Education and qualification
7. Preferably NMC registered nurse with relevant post-registration experience (desirable but not essential).
