HGV Technician/Mechanic required to work with South Birmingham/Worcestershire based council.
My client requires an experienced and professional HGV technician/mechanic to work. You will be able to safley drive a heavy good vehicle and have ideally a minimum of 3 years experience in this industry.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver an extensive Programme of vehicle maintenance, repair, inspection and examination. They will work to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, the legal requirements of the Councils Operators Licence, DVSA requirements and internal Council policies and procedures.
To provide support to all the Council Services, we operate an alternating weekly shift rota of early and late shifts to cover the hours of 6.30am - 6pm at each depot (1 week early shift, 1 week late shift).
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Complete deliveries accurately using electronic stock systems
Unpack goods and connect appliances where necessary
Maintain vehicles by completing daily checks
Conduct chassis and equipment fault diagnoses, and execute any necessary body and chassis repairs.
Standards Compliance Ensure repairs meet VOSA Standards.
MOT Preparation: Precision preparation for MOT inspections.
Efficient Completion: Timely completion of jobs, addressing additional tasks.
Paperwork Management: Complete relevant paperwork and input data into DE systems.
8:30AM - 4:30PM, Monday to FridayI am really keen in speaking to anyone who has:
City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent
Qualified to VOSA standards for HGV inspections and tests
Qualified MOT Nominated Tester class 4,5,7 to support the full time MOT retail and Taxi Nominated Tester.
Experience of conducting maintenance, inspection, repair and test services for a diverse fleet including vehicles such as light vehicle van/Tipper's, Small Plant machines, Sweepers, Waste Tankers, and Large Refuse Vehicles
Experience of performing MIG welding; gas and electric welding. (Preferably a coded welder, but not essential).
Experience of hydraulic and pneumatic diagnosis/repair
Possess a full LGV Class 2 Category C Licence
Ability to work on own initiative and to meet strict deadlines
