Overview
Our client, based in central Manchester, require a Principal Mechanical Engineer from the Building Services/FM sector. The role will oversee mechanical service contracts & compliance, with an emphasis on Mechanical & Pressure systems maintenance whilst overseeing contractors on site covering Gas, Water, HVAC & compressed systems. It is working for the Facilities Division of a multi-site organisation.
This is a permanent role with a salary between £50,000 - 56,535 PAYE + excellent benefits (35 days holidays + 19% pension).
In summary, this position would suit someone who has worked in a FM/Building Services role who has solid mechanical engineering knowledge (ideally degree qualified) coupled with experience of contractor management, statutory regulations & management of mechanical service contracts/SLAs.
Responsibilities
* Organising contractor site inspections and managing contractors to maintain compliance and SLAs.
* Assist head of department in strategic & operational maintenance of site, including provision of surveys, project management and responsibility for updating mechanical standard requirement documents.
* Ensuring mechanical records, reports, design and installation specifications are maintained in line with current legislation & industry standards.
* Oversee reactive works whilst making sure all compliance and legal provisions are met.
* Looking after mechanical Risk Assessments, Method statements & organising Safe systems of working/Permits to work.
* Able to produce monthly reports related to ongoing compliance.
* Identify risk areas and monitor to improve mechanical department performance.
Desirable Educational Requirements
* Chartered Engineer or Degree level qualification Mechanical Engineering, building services or equivalent discipline.
* IOSH or NEBOSH certification (desirable)
