Responsibilities
* Ensure an excellent standard of cleanliness and tidiness within the PICU department environment, and maintain Infection Control cleaning standards.
* Ensure efficient organisation and provision of food and beverages for patients.
* Maintain stores and adequate stock levels.
* Support ward activity under direction to enable patient flow and capacity.
* Work a flexible working pattern to meet service need.
* Maintain open pathways of communication with facilities assistants.
* Liaise with appropriate staff to ensure cleaning schedule is maintained within departmental standards.
* Ensure patient bed spaces are cleaned daily, kept clean and tidy to ensure a safe environment, working with nursing staff, the child/young person, and family.
* Clean bed spaces in between patients.
* Ensure all empty bed spaces are ready for use.
* Following discharge, remove, clean, or dispose of all individual patient items within the bed space, and replace essential equipment as necessary.
* Collect and deliver specimens to and from other departments as required.
* Collect blood products from central blood bank and satellite fridges, ensuring collection training is kept in date.
* Assist breastfeeding mothers by providing support, advice, and practical help in expressing milk (if appropriately trained).
