Health & Safety Officer

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable, well-established business where you will work closely with HR and the Health & Safety Coordinator, helping to drive best practice across health & safety, occupational health, and wider compliance activities.
What You’ll Be Doing as Health & Safety/Compliance Officer:

Supporting the HR team and Health & Safety Coordinator with day-to-day health, safety, and compliance activities
*
Developing and reviewing risk assessments to identify hazards and reduce operational risk
*
Creating and reviewing safe systems of work for business operations
*
Maintaining and updating COSHH risk assessments, MSDS records, HAV documentation, and machine assessments (PUWER)
*
Carrying out accident and incident investigations
*
Keeping accurate health & safety records and compliance documentation up to date
*
Liaising with external bodies such as the HSE, insurers, and contractors where required
*
Monitoring audit action points and ensuring deadlines are met
*
Promoting correct PPE usage and reporting any defects
Health & Safety Training & Occupational Health Duties:
*
Coordinating manual handling refresher training
*
Managing licence reviews (including driving and forklift licences) and arranging training in line with expiry dates
*
Supporting first aid cover, organising training, and maintaining first aid room stock
*
Helping to promote a positive health & safety culture across the business
*
Monitoring health surveillance, biological monitoring, and eye test requirements with external providers
*
Following up actions in line with HSE guidance and provider recommendations
What We’re Looking for as Health & Safety/Compliance Officer:
Essential:
*
Experience in Health & Safety or Administration within a Manufacturing/Engineering Environment.
*
Good working knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice
*
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
*
Confident communicator who can build relationships across all levels of the business
*
Good time management and a motivated, professional approach
*
Computer literate, including Microsoft Office
Hours of Work:
Day Shift
*
Monday to Thursday: 8:15am - 4:45pm
*
Friday: 8:15am - 1:45pm
*
37 hours per week
*
Overtime available when required
