Manufacturing Equipment Engineer
We are looking for a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join us at Leonardo in Basildon. You will be part of the Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business, which is a leader in delivering defence electronics, mission‑critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare, communications and surveillance across land, air and sea domains.
As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer you will have the opportunity to build cross‑functional relationships, be a positive influence within the project teams, and support the future of the business by improving the production process.
Typical tasks include:
* Continuously improve manufacturing equipment processes challenging current methods to identify opportunities to reduce cost and timescales
* Overall Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) – participate in the uptime / utilisation data analysis
* Maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment, internal Leonardo calibration and external calibration processes, conducting TPM to schedule (including COTS and supporting S.T.T.E.)
* Interface with the Calibration Services provider to support calibration and repair requirements of the relevant manufacturing and test equipment and tooling
* Assist in keeping spares for maintenance, repair and upgrade activities
* Resolve routine manufacturing equipment issues and constraints, relieve bottlenecks, and react efficiently to escalations from manufacturing teams
* Support the design, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing EPA/ESD arrangements ensuring successful ESD processes are in place
* Maintain manufacturing equipment documentation set, e.g., maintenance schedule and process checklist
* Maintain manufacturing equipment critical spares and proactively review/oversight of obsolescence
* Support maintenance of manufacturing support facilities and services to ensure successful manufacture/test of products
* Support as required capital investment (e.g., installation, advise maintenance definition)
* Assist and support Manufacturing Engineering preparation of Manufacturing Maturity Reviews
* Participate in Equipment Criticality Assessment / Risk Assessment processes (including COTS and supporting S.T.T.E.)
* Support internal and external audits of the Manufacturing, Test Equipment and Calibration processes
* May supervise an industrial placement or summer student
* Maintain equipment and company reputation by complying with government regulations
