Have you got Solidworks and sheet metal design experience? A well-established international engineering company is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team.
The Role:
You will take a key role in the design and development of mechanical systems.Working closely with multidisciplinary teams—including electrical, systems and software engineers—you will help deliver high-performance engineered solutions for customers around the globe.
Key Responsibilities:
* Translate customer requirements into clear mechanical specifications and designs
* Produce 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, particularly sheet-metal designs
* Structure and manage design data within PDM systems
* Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to ensure designs are safe, practical and cost-effective
* Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support construction and product development
* Help solve complex design and manufacturing challenges within the engineering team
* Present design concepts and assist with prototype development and testing
* Produce detailed mechanical design documentation including layout drawings and calculations
* Resolve design issues during fabrication, testing, production and service stages
* Ensure designs are delivered on schedule with accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
* Maintain documentation to meet customer, company and regulatory standards
* Stay current with modern manufacturing techniques and drawing standards
Skills & Experience:
* Strong experience with SolidWorks (sheet-metal design)
* Knowledge of PDM systems; FEA experience advantageous
* Experience with shipping container or control panel design desirable
* Experience with welded assemblies and cable routing beneficial
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
* Strong technical and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical concepts clearly
* Familiarity with BOM structures and Microsoft Office
