School Crossing Patrol Officer - Kings Ford County Infant and Junior, Colchester
Position: Permanent, Part Time

Support your local community by joining Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team at Kings Ford County Infant & Junior School, Gloucester Avenue, Colchester. This role involves assisting children across the road in the morning and afternoon to ensure their safety.
We seek a punctual, reliable, approachable individual who enjoys engaging with the public.
This position is approximately 7.5 hours per week, during the school term (39 weeks), with a holiday pay element. You will work about 45 minutes in the morning (08:00 - 09:00) and 45 minutes in the afternoon (14:45 - 15:45), depending on site requirements. Uniform, equipment, and training are provided.
Responsibilities:
* Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility-impaired pedestrians.
* Maintain contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
* Assess risks at the crossing site regularly and report issues.
* Assist in preparing reports on accidents or incidents at the crossing.
* Maintain uniform and equipment in good condition, requesting replacements when needed.
* Signal to drivers to stop traffic safely, ensuring pedestrians cross securely.
