About Residential Care
Help older adults live their life how they choose and enjoy their later years. Support people to stay active and healthy by encouraging good nutrition and promoting fitness and mobility, as well as supporting emotional wellness.
About the role
As a Support Worker (Carer, Care Worker, Care Assistant) you will get the opportunity to know people individually and support their wellbeing through physical and emotional care. You may also assist with medication, providing personal care, and encouraging our people to achieve or maintain independence.
Disability Confident
A Disability Confident employer will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by the employer. In certain recruitment situations such as high-volume, seasonal and high-peak times, the employer may wish to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people. For more details, go to Disability Confident.
About Our Home
Christian Head provides a safe, caring and home‑from‑home environment for up to 28 residents with complex healthcare needs. Situated close to all facilities in the market town of Kirkby Stephen, we offer respite and residential care for those who are elderly, frail or have dementia.
Working within our Residential Care Service
Working within our Residential Care Service will typically involve working shifts which usually cover between 7am until 10pm (days) or 9.30pm – 7.30am (nights), over 7 days, 365 days a year. This will include alternate weekends (as part of a set rota) and Bank Holidays.
Pay and Benefits
The advertised hourly rate includes a supplement (JWC) to the base grade of the post. JWC supplements are conditional on the physical demands and/or working conditions of the role. A market supplement equalling time and a third is currently being applied to all night and weekend (Saturday and Sunday) shifts, uplifting the hourly rate in these periods to £17.96. This applies to both contracted hours and to any additional hours worked within the applicable time periods. From 20th April 2026 this will be replaced by a new market supplement of £0.53 per hour which will be payable once you have been in post for 6 months. It will be applied to your basic salary and to any additional hours, uplifting the hourly rate to £14.00 per hour. There will be the option to take this as a lump sum annually.
