Job Summary
We have full‑time and part‑time hours available. Applicants must be able to travel between our main surgery BN1 6AG and our branch surgeries BN2 9SL and BN2 4GJ.
Responsibilities
* Act as key point of communication between the Practice and GP practices within the Primary Care Network and other healthcare organisations.
* Provide caring, unbiased and timely support to patients and other individuals accessing the Practice.
* Input data into the patients' health records as necessary.
* Answer incoming phone calls, transfer calls or deal with the callers' requests appropriately.
* Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.
* Keep patients informed of appointments and manage delays or cancellations; process personal, telephone and electronic requests for appointments.
* Signpost and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional.
* Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies; read code data on EMIS Web.
* Photocopy documentation as required.
* Data‑entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information.
* Direct requests for information (SAR, insurance/solicitor letters, DVLA forms) to the administrative team.
* Manage all queries efficiently.
* Process incoming mail and electronic mail as appropriate.
* Carry out system searches as requested.
* Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
* Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
* Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
* Maintain the efficient patient records system, including filing and follow‑up requests.
Qualifications
* Essential
o Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
* Desirable
o GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
o AMSPAR Qualification
o NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
Experience and Skills
* Experience – Essential
o Experience of working with the general public
o Experience of administrative duties
o Experience of working in a health care setting
* Experience – Desirable
o Experience of working in a general practice setting
o Knowledge of medical terminology
o Experience working with healthcare professionals across the NHS Network
* Skills – Essential
o Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
o Strong IT skills
o Clear, polite telephone manner
o Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
o Effective time management (planning & organising)
o Ability to work as a team member and autonomously

Contract & Salary
Salary: Depending on experience. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑time, Part‑time.
