We are located on the south coast of England, close to an international airport and with direct rail links to London. The area offers the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast, providing an ideal setting to live and work.
What You’ll Do
You’ll deliver timely and compelling copy for a range of audiences, key to the growing research communications strategy. Your work will involve:
* Working closely with communications staff, researchers and suppliers to provide engaging content to the public, staff, health professionals and stakeholders.
* Collaborating with managers in the Southampton Centre for Research Engagement and Impact to maximise benefit and impact across research topics.
* Handling team enquiries and requests, building connections with communications partners regional‑wide, and proactively supporting media visits to the hospital.
What We’re Looking For
We need a communicator who can cut through complexity, balancing multiple projects and priorities under pressure, and who can offer content that genuinely connects with audiences. Familiarity with NHS R&D, NIHR, or a clinical academic environment is desirable, but initiative and demonstrable delivery in complex settings are essential.
Qualifications / Training Required
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent level or experience.
* Qualification in digital communications related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Previous or Relevant Experience Necessary
* Experience of working in a communication, writing or editing role, either in print or online, including use of a style guide.
* Experience working in an office environment and using MS Office systems.
* Practical experience and knowledge of content creation and/or management systems.
* Experience of design work and working with external designers and photographers.
