Job Overview
The Key Worker is responsible for delivering structured, person-centred key work sessions to residents across Fortix supported living houses. The role focuses on engagement, motivation, accountability, and progression, supporting residents to achieve stability, independence, and positive outcomes. The Key Worker will also facilitate service user group sessions, house meetings, and structured interventions, contributing to a safe, recovery-focused, and well-managed living environment.
Key responsibilities:
Key Work & Resident Support
* Deliver regular 1:1 key work sessions with allocated residents.
* Develop, review, and update support plans and risk assessments in partnership with residents.
* Set clear, achievable goals and monitor progress.
* Provide structured interventions focusing on areas such as:
* Recovery and abstinence
* Emotional regulation
* Independent living skills
* Tenancy readiness
* Personal responsibility and accountability
* Maintain accurate and timely case notes and documentation.
Group Work & House Sessions
* Plan and facilitate service user group sessions.
* Deliver structured house meetings to promote responsibility, house standards, and peer accountability.
* Encourage participation, constructive discussion, and respectful behaviour.
* Address emerging tensions or behavioural concerns within group settings appropriately.
Engagement & Behaviour Management
* Build professional, boundaried relationships with residents.
* Engage individuals who may present with challenging behaviour, resistance, manipulation, or low motivation.
* Use de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed approaches where appropriate.
* Promote positive behaviour and reinforce house expectations consistently.
* Challenge inappropriate behaviour in a calm, firm and professional manner.
Safeguarding & Risk Management
* Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with policy.
* Monitor and respond to risks relating to substance misuse, mental health, violence, or exploitation.
* Contribute to risk management planning and review.
* Ensure residents understand house rules and consequences.
Compliance & Communication
* Maintain clear, accurate and professional records.
* Attend team meetings and contribute to case discussions.
* Communicate concerns promptly to Supervisors or Team Leaders.
* Work collaboratively with external agencies where required.
Person Specification
Essential
* Experience working with vulnerable adults in supported living, recovery housing, or similar settings.
* Ability to deliver structured 1:1 sessions and group work.
* Experience engaging individuals with complex or challenging behaviour.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
* Confident in maintaining professional boundaries.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and assertive in challenging situations.
Desirable
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards).
* Lived experience of recovery (where appropriate).
* Knowledge of substance misuse recovery models, trauma-informed practice, or motivational interviewing.
