Lead Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear)
Location: Warrington

Job responsibilities
1. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, lead the development of mechanical engineering and design within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects.
2. Manage projects from concept design to execution designs.
3. Support initial projects within the nuclear sector, with opportunities to deliver projects in other sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, and Food, across small and large projects.
4. Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
5. Ensure quality in engineering designs and project deliverables, including checking and approval processes.
6. Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, other relevant standards, and specifications.
7. Manage and complete mechanical designs within scope, time, and budget, including change control and interdisciplinary consistency.
8. Participate in design reviews and ensure design acceptance by clients.
9. Make independent technical decisions and provide expert support within the mechanical engineering team.
Your profile
If you meet the following criteria, we look forward to hearing from you:
1. Qualification in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering, preferably at Degree level (BEng or MEng).
2. At least 5 years of demonstrable experience as Lead/Senior/Principal Engineer in multi-discipline engineering projects.
3. Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent (preferable).
4. Knowledge of general engineering standards and specifications (essential) and nuclear standards (desirable).
5. Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices in design.
6. Knowledge of other disciplines such as Civil, Structural, EC&I, and Process.
7. Experience with mechanical specifications, design basis, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, risk assessments, and compliance assessments.
8. Result-oriented with a focus on client satisfaction and quality delivery.
9. Strong planning and organizational skills, understanding dependencies within and across disciplines, with a 'one-time right' approach.
10. Familiarity with mechanical design packages like AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, Caesar II.
11. Ability to implement change control procedures and communicate impacts to clients effectively.
12. Leadership skills to motivate and develop team members.
13. Ability to develop and present design packages to clients and prepare for design review meetings.
14. Ability to meet UK security clearance requirements (SC clearance preferable).
