We are seeking an Assistant Design & Engineering Manager to support the technical delivery of Major Capital Projects across our UK portfolio. Reporting into the Group Engineering & Design Lead, you will support and manage the design and engineering workstream across several major projects, working closely with regional teams to adapt solutions to local operating environments.
You will join the team at a particularly exciting time, with a major RoRo port expansion currently underway, a large green energy scheme consented and a diverse pipeline of early‑stage projects progressing across the region. This role will not be focused on a single initiative, instead, you’ll gain exposure across multiple projects at different project lifecycle stages from concept through to delivery.
Accountabilities
7. Support the technical development and delivery of major capital projects.
8. Manage and support scope definition and delivery of technical work packages.
9. Coordinate and contribute to design and constructability reviews.
10. Review consultant and contractor outputs for safety, quality and compliance.
11. Support tendering activities and contract awards.
12. Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities.
13. Support in monitoring consultant and contractor performance.
14. Coordinate stakeholders and manage technical requirements.
15. Report on progress, risks and key decisions.
About You
16. Experience supporting the technical delivery of civil infrastructure projects, with an ideal minimum of 3–5 years’ experience.
17. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
18. Engineering design experience in a consultancy or contracting environment.
19. Knowledge of drawing and standards production and good understanding of design processes.
20. Experience in client‑side environments, or close collaboration with client teams, would be advantageous.
21. Ability to challenge constructively and bring solutions to engineering challenges.
22. Experience with Common Data Environments and quality systems
