Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate GP to join our friendly, forward‑thinking training practice in North Manchester. With a list size of around 9,000 registered patients (10,500 weighted and growing), we pride ourselves on delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care within a supportive multidisciplinary team. This is a 5.5 session role across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including clinical, admin and on‑call sessions, and a dedicated weekly care‑home session. Experience in care‑home work is desirable, but support is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
* Provide consultations for patients with acute, chronic and complex conditions.
* Assess, diagnose, investigate, treat and manage patients independently and safely.
* Provide personalised care through continuity and follow‑up where appropriate.
* Undertake a weekly care‑home session and liaise with care‑home staff to ensure coordinated care.
* Participate in the Thursday and Friday afternoon on‑call rota, managing urgent queries, same‑day appointments and clinical decision‑making.
* Prescribe medications safely in accordance with local and national guidance.
* Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Complete clinical administration including reviewing test results, handling Docman correspondence and updating records.
* Use practice systems such as EMIS to maintain high‑quality, accurate documentation.
* Contribute to practice audits, quality improvement and clinical governance activities.
Teamwork & Communication
* Work collaboratively with GPs, Physician Associates, ACPs, Nurse Associates, nurses, pharmacists and administrative teams.
* Participate in weekly practice meetings and multidisciplinary discussions.
* Support effective communication between the practice, community teams and external providers.
Training & Development
* Engage in ongoing CPD, appraisal and revalidation.
* Contribute to teaching and supporting medical students, GP trainees or other learners where appropriate.
* Participate in mandatory training and practice training sessions.
Professional Standards
* Work in line with GMC guidance, NICE standards and practice/PCN protocols.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and data security under GDPR and Caldicott principles.
* Operate within health and safety, safeguarding and infection control frameworks.
Working Pattern
* 5.5 sessions per week: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
* Includes clinical work, care‑home session, admin session and two half‑day on‑call sessions.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
* Fully qualified General Practitioner (MRCGP or equivalent).
* GMC full registration and licence to practise.
* Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List (or eligible for inclusion).
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualifications relevant to Primary Care.
* GP Trainer accreditation or interest in developing as an educator.
* Additional clinical skills or special interests.
Essential Experience
* Experience in managing a wide range of acute and chronic primary care conditions.
* Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience of providing patient‑centred, holistic care.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working in care homes or with frail/elderly patients.
* Experience working in a training practice.
* Experience contributing to Quality Improvement or audit activities.
* Previous involvement in PCN‑based services.
