Senior Manager – Waste and Environmental Services
About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity at Wirral for a highly experienced and motivated senior waste management professional to lead the establishment of the new Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing Contract and arrangements. This role involves responsibilities such as contract award and mobilisation, leading the delivery of a new refuse collection system, service transformation, and recruiting a team to deliver a behaviour change programme to improve recycling, re-use, and upcycling performance across Wirral.
The Senior Manager will represent Wirral on the Liverpool City Region Waste Management Partnership to support coordination of waste management and treatment arrangements. Additionally, they will lead street cleansing services and be a key stakeholder in regeneration and public realm projects transforming Wirral.
About The Candidate
We seek a manager with experience in community engagement, eager to involve residents in service design and increase participation in environmental initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Climate Emergency and Environment, the successful candidate will be part of the senior management team, providing strategic leadership for Wirral’s environmental services.
You will work closely with Council Members at all levels to manage services and large partnerships, with experience in managing complex collaborations being essential.
