JOB ROLE

Deputy Care Home Manager – Residential Care for Young People

LOCATION

Please note, you are required to hold a Full UK Driving Licence as this role is based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire (SY3)


SALARY

£14.60 - £15.20* per hour


HOURS

39 per week


Shift Structure

39 hours per week (including overnights)
£62.64 per sleep‑in (working approx. 4-8 sleep ins per month, additional earnings from £3,000 to £6,000 per annum)

* NVQ/QCF Level 3 or higher in Childcare or Young People (Please clearly state this on your CV)
* A full, valid UK driver licence is required
* Applicants must be at least 21 years of age to work with vulnerable children
* Experience preferred in Senior Level child or health care, with a focus on working with vulnerable children.


About the Role

Are you a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager with a passion for supporting children with complex needs and challenging behaviours? We are looking for a dynamic and empathetic Deputy Manager to join our Children's Residential Services team. In this role, you will work closely with the Home Manager and wider team to provide exceptional care and support for young people with a range of behavioural challenges.

You will play a pivotal role in creating a safe and nurturing environment, where children can thrive and work toward positive outcomes. Your expertise will help guide and support staff in managing difficult situations, promoting positive behaviours, and fostering personal growth for each young person in our care.


About You

* Previous experience working as a Deputy Manager or in a Senior role within a residential setting for children and young people.
* Strong experience and understanding of working with children exhibiting challenging behaviors, including those with trauma histories.
* In-depth knowledge of behavioral management strategies and therapeutic interventions.
* A compassionate and patient approach to care, with a commitment to supporting children to achieve positive outcomes.
* Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, guide, and support a team.
* A relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare).
* A sound understanding of safeguarding procedures, child protection, and relevant legislation.

Requirements

* Proven experience within a Residential Children's Home, ideally at Senior or Deputy Manager level, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by young people in care.
* NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children's Childcare or Young People (Please note we cannot accept Level 3 Health and Social care for this role)
* In‑depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and best practice standards.
* Demonstrable experience in managing budgets, creating rotas, and overseeing operational processes.
* A full, clean UK driving licence, with the ability to travel as needed.
