Description We are looking for a Junior Pipeline Engineer to join our pipeline engineering team supporting Costain engineering efforts from Front End and detailed design through to construction and commissioning of Energy projects. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated early career engineer to join our team; with us you will receive training to develop your technical competency in pipeline engineering through broad exposure to different aspects of pipeline design and construction management projects. As your knowledge and experience develops the role will grow to include pipeline mechanical design, route selection and other critical aspects of pipeline design. LI-MR1 Responsibilities Assist in the preparation and delivery of design work in accordance with Company Procedures under the guidance of a Principal Engineer Assist in preparing design deliverables for FEED and EPCM projects, including alignment sheets, pipeline route maps, and construction drawings. Support hydraulic and stress analysis, wall thickness calculations, and material selection studies. Contribute to technical documentation such as specifications, datasheets, and design basis reports. Perform pipeline routing studies and assist in preparing right-of-way drawings. Support procurement activities, including material requisitions and vendor data reviews. Assist in construction planning, cost estimation, and schedule development. Participate in site surveys, data collection, and interface coordination with clients, contractors, and other disciplines. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.4/B31.8, API, ASTM, ISO). Support senior engineers in risk assessments, HSE compliance, and constructability reviews. To report back to the Lead Pipeline Engineer and/or Discipline Manager recommendations for continuous improvements in performance and removal of constraints. To be aware of legal and organisational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety Sustainability and Environmental issues with respect to employees, contractors, clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are all managed in accordance with Company policy and client requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Mechanical or Civil preferred, will consider other Engineering degrees as well Internship or early experience in pipeline Engineering is an advantage Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and pipeline analysis tools (e.g., CAESAR II, PIPESTRESS) is desirable Demonstrated ability to work in and contribute to a team environment Proficient in Microsoft office tools and project management software. Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Be a team player with excellent communication skills and proactive in engaging with colleagues and relevant stakeholders Work with paramount consideration of Health, Safety, Environment, Risk Reduction and management.
