The Role This position sits within a Transmission Project Engineering function, with a primary focus on AC Overhead Line (OHL) systems. Candidates with a project engineering background and experience working on transmission networks-particularly at 132kV and above-are encouraged to apply. Experience gained within contractor, consultancy, or client-side organisations in the energy sector will be advantageous. Key Responsibilities Provide overhead line engineering support for 400kV, 275kV and 132kV projects across the full project lifecycle, as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Review contractor and consultant design proposals, ensuring compliance with relevant specifications, standards, and guidance. Undertake a Project Engineering role, ensuring engineering governance is followed and coordination is maintained across all engineering disciplines. Support the project team by managing engineering risks and identifying opportunities to enhance project outcomes. Act as the technical point of contact for overhead line engineering and represent engineering at strategic, commercial, programme, and site meetings. Promote and manage safety through the implementation of CDM procedures, ensuring compliance with organisational, HSE, and industry regulations. Work closely with Engineering and Project Management teams to identify and mitigate engineering and quality risks. About You Strong technical capability in overhead line development, design, and specification, or demonstrable transferable experience. Experience with overhead line design software (e.g. PLS-CADD) is desirable but not essential. Degree or HND in a relevant technical discipline, with appropriate industry experience. Proactive and analytical, with a strong problem-solving approach and evidence-based decision making. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and convey technical information effectively at all levels.
