Air Source Heat Pump Pre-sales Engineer
About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated Sales Engineer to join our growing renewables team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with early experience in HVAC or renewable energy systems who wants to develop both their technical and commercial expertise in a dynamic, customer-facing environment.
You’ll work closely with senior engineers, the sales team, and our customers to ensure every proposed air source heat pump (ASHP) solution is technically sound, compliant, and aligned with client needs.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales Support
* Provide accurate technical input to assist in the preparation of quotations and proposals.
* Review designs for feasibility, compliance, and performance.
* Act as a bridge between sales, engineering, and customers to resolve technical queries.

Solution Development
* Assist in designing ASHP systems to meet client requirements.
* Perform preliminary sizing, layouts, and system assessments based on site data.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimise system design.
* Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to validate component choices.
Customer Engagement
* Attend customer meetings and site visits to gather data and assess feasibility.
* Provide clear technical explanations during the sales process.
* Support the development of tailored proposals and respond to client feedback.
Proposal Preparation
* Prepare technical documentation, schematics, and performance estimates.
* Ensure proposals are accurate, compliant, and professionally presented.
* Support cost-benefit and lifecycle analysis to demonstrate system value.
Product & Industry Knowledge
* Stay current with air source heat pump technologies, standards, and market trends.
* Participate in training and share insights with the wider team.
* Monitor competitors and emerging technologies to strengthen solution offerings.
Compliance & Quality
* Ensure all proposed solutions comply with relevant standards and regulations.
* Assist in the preparation of documentation for certifications and audits.

About You
Attributes

Experience
* Experience in HVAC, building services, or renewable energy.
* Exposure to air source heat pumps or similar low-carbon technologies.
* Familiarity with technical drawings, specifications, and compliance standards.
* HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field (preferred).
Knowledge & Skills
* Understanding of thermodynamics and heat pump operation.
* Awareness of MCS standards, building regulations, and environmental compliance.
* Knowledge of domestic and light commercial heating systems.
* Familiarity with heat loss calculations and system performance metrics.
