Are you a proactive leader with a "safety-first" mindset and a talent for maintaining high-quality environments?
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Facilities Manager to oversee the site, health and safety, and physical infrastructure of a well-regarded Catholic Secondary School in Bristol. This school is defined by its strong sense of community, its faith-led values, and its commitment to providing a safe, inspiring space for students to learn and grow.

The Role
As the Facilities Manager, you will be the custodian of the school’s physical assets. You will lead a site team to ensure the buildings are not only functional and compliant but also reflect the pride and standards of the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Site Compliance: Managing all statutory testing (fire safety, legionella, asbestos) and maintaining the school’s Health & Safety policy.
* Contractor Management: Procuring and overseeing external trades, from cleaners and caterers to major construction firms.
* Project Management: Planning and executing small-to-medium scale renovation projects and capital improvements.
* Budgeting: Managing the site and maintenance budget effectively to ensure maximum value for the school.
* Security & Lettings: Overseeing school security protocols and managing out-of-hours community use of the facilities.
Why This School?
* Community Values: Work within a supportive environment where staff and student wellbeing is rooted in the school’s mission.
* Varied Environment: No two days are the same, from managing 19th-century architecture to modern, high-tech labs.
* Professional Autonomy: Take ownership of the site strategy and lead a team that makes a visible difference every day.
* Bristol Location: Situated in a vibrant part of the city with excellent transport links and local amenities.
About You
We are looking for a hands-on leader who can balance long-term strategic planning with the day-to-day "fix-it" requirements of a busy secondary school.
Our Ideal Candidate:
* Holds a recognized Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH).
* Has proven experience in facilities or estate management, preferably within a large public sector or educational setting.
* Possesses a solid understanding of building trades (plumbing, electrical, or carpentry).
* Is a strong communicator who can liaise effectively with governors, staff, and external partners.
