Technical Business Support Officer £26,403 -£28,142 per annum Scale 4. 37 hrs per week. Permanent An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our forward‑thinking and highly motivated Development Management Team as a Technical Business Support Officer. This is a key role within the service, where you will play a vital part in supporting the delivery of high‑quality planning and development management services that make a real difference to our communities. As a valued member of the team, you will provide excellent business and customer support across a diverse range of services, including Planning, Ecology, Building Control, Built Heritage Conservation, and Highways Development Management. Your work will help ensure the delivery of professional, innovative, and customer‑focused services to a wide range of stakeholders. The role is based in Telford, a vibrant and growing destination where people love to live, work, and enjoy life. Located in the heart of Shropshire, Telford is the gateway between the Midlands and Wales, offering a rich blend of heritage, natural beauty, and modern development. The borough boasts a thriving town centre and a stunning 450‑acre town park with extensive leisure facilities. By joining the Development Management team, you will contribute directly to shaping creative, positive, and sustainable places—helping to build a safe environment that benefits both current residents and future generations. About You You will be expected to: Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification. Have experience working with legislation, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain policies, procedures, and decisions clearly and confidently Have proven experience of delivering essential front‑line customer services, handling enquiries via telephone, email, and face‑to‑face contact in a efficient, friendly, and professional service manner maintaining high standards of customer care at all times. Have experience of balancing priorities to deliver statutory services ensuring timescales are met. Have a good understanding and experience of IT systems used, including Outlook, Excel, Office and Word. Work as part of a dynamic and friendly team who are actively encouraged to engage in how we can deliver continual improvements and progress to our services.
