Overview
The Unit Sister/Charge Nurse leads an established nursing team in the Oncology and Haematology Day Unit, delivering high standards of holistic cancer care and ensuring safety for all patients and staff. The role requires initiative, strong leadership and excellent communication, with a focus on developing and monitoring standards of care and delivering high-quality SACT services.
Responsibilities
* Lead, develop and supervise the nursing team to maintain high standards of holistic cancer care.
* Ensure patient safety and be actively involved in recruitment, retention and sickness absence management.
* Provide leadership by example, promoting quality care and continuous improvement of standards and patient safety.
* Oversee staff development and ensure ward KPIs are achieved in line with compliance levels.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide a high-quality service and manage patients on complex SACT regimens.
Qualifications and Skills
* Registered nurse with appropriate qualification and current registration.
* Significant leadership experience within a specialist nursing area, preferably oncology/haematology.
* Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate a team and manage change.
* Knowledge of complex SACT regimens and ability to work effectively with MDT members.
* Experience in recruitment, retention and sickness absence management.
