You will contribute to the development of an engaging and ambitious curriculum, promote high standards of achievement and progress, and play a full part in the wider life of our school community.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners in line with national curriculum expectations.
Assess, record and report on pupils' progress, attainment and development in accordance with school policy.
Create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity and respect.
Maintain high expectations of behaviour, establishing routines that support learning and well-being.
Use adaptive teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with SEND, EAL and higher prior attainment.
Use assessment data effectively to inform planning and target support to raise achievement.
Contribute to the development of curriculum materials and schemes of work within the department.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and support whole-school priorities.
Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, trips and events.
Act as a form tutor, supporting the personal development and well-being of a designated year group.
Uphold and promote the school's values and ethos in all aspects of work.
About You
Essential Criteria
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Degree in Geography or a related subject
Strong knowledge of current educational research, curriculum and assessment best practice
Experience as a successful classroom teacher
Ability to deliver outstanding lessons and inspire pupils across all key stages
Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues
Effective use of data to drive improvement
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to challenge and support a wide range of pupils, including those with SEND and EAL
High expectations for all pupils
Strong organisational skills, including time management and prioritisation
Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Desirable Criteria
Further professional qualifications or leadership training (e.g. NPQs, Master's degree)
Pastoral experience with secondary pupils
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
