Software engineer

Location: Edinburgh Hybrid (3 days per week)

Software Engineer – Backend (Java Focus)

We’re looking for skilled Backend Software Engineer to join a critical programme for our client in the Financial Services sector. You’ll contribute to the development of resilient, scalable services that support the onboarding and servicing of a significant customer base.

What You’ll Do

1. Develop and maintain high‑quality backend software solutions
2. Support complex data migration and system integration activities
3. Work closely with architects, analysts, and testers to ensure smooth delivery
4. Improve performance, reliability, and security across critical systems
5. Drive best practices and continuous improvement within the development lifecycle

What We’re Looking For

6. 5+ years of hands‑on Java development experience (primary requirement)
7. Strong understanding of backend engineering and service‑based architectures
8. experience with API development and integration patterns
9. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
10. Familiarity with large-scale systems or data migration projects
11. Strong problem‑solving skills and comfort working in agile teams
12. A collaborative and quality‑focused mindset
