Title: Marketing Assistant Volunteer Responsible to: Marketing and Digital Marketing Executives Heart of Kent Hospice are looking for a proactive and creative Volunteer Marketing Assistant to support our Communications Team in delivering engaging, consistent, and effective marketing activity. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build hands‑on experience across digital and offline marketing, content creation, and community engagement while contributing to meaningful organisational growth. You will be based at the hospice in Aylesford working alongside the Marketing Executive and Digital Marketing Executive. Ideally, you would be able to work with us in the hospice for a day or two half days each week, though this is flexible dependent on your availability. Role purpose/ Main duties: Social Media & Digital Engagement Assist with gathering and creating content across social media platforms. Monitoring comments and tags across channels. Help increase engagement within online groups and communities by sharing updates, responding to comments, and identifying opportunities for conversation. Support the Digital Marketing Executive in monitoring analytics and identifying trends to improve reach and engagement. Content Creation & Design Use Canva to design eye‑catching graphics, posters, and promotional materials for digital and print use. Contribute ideas for new content formats, campaigns, and storytelling approaches. Help maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all channels. Website & Listing Management Ensure all listing sites, directories, and partner platforms are kept up to date with accurate information. Assist with uploading new content, updating website page details, and refreshing outdated event listings. Physical Marketing Materials Prepare physical assets such as flyers, posters, and information packs for distribution. Support with organising materials for events, outreach activities, and community spaces. Collaboration Work closely with the Communications Team to support ongoing campaigns and marketing priorities. Contribute to team discussions and share creative ideas. Training and development: Attend all appropriate statutory and mandatory training and undertake training and development as identified through individual supportive discussions with the line manager. Health and safety: To take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and others that may be affected by what you do while at the hospice, and to co-operate in the implementation of the hospice’s Health and Safety Policy. General: To be aware of and comply with all hospice and Statutory Policies and Procedures as appropriate. To work as a member of the hospice team, to foster the team’s caring mission and to have commitment to the cause of helping patients and their families/carers. At all times to behave in a manner befitting the role and the professional dignity of the hospice and ensure that the hospice is positively represented to the public and other stakeholders. Any disclosure of confidential information (including personal information kept on computer or other media) made unlawfully outside the proper course of duty will be treated as a serious disciplinary offence. Skills & Qualities: Interest in marketing, communications, or social media. Basic familiarity with Canva (or willingness to learn). Strong written communication skills and an eye for detail. Creative, organised, and enthusiastic about trying new things. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. A Basic DBS will be required for this role; the hospice will facilitate this.
