DP World Southampton are seeking a skilled Engineering Team Leader who will be responsible for the management of all aspects of maintenance of Mobile Plant & Equipment, Cranes and ancillaries in the context of a safety critical environment. The role will utilise Asset & People Management Techniques to provide an excellent reactive and proactive engineering service to customers.
About the role:
* Undertake management activities, such as appraisals, 1:1’s / performance management, attendance, disciplinary etc processes
* Effective communication with customers/colleagues in other departments.
* To deal effectively with all engineering matters together with maintaining a good working relationship with managers and staff of other departments
* To ensure that all staff undertake their duties in compliance with respective staff agreements and that the procedures of those are followed at all times.
* To ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists, by adhering to company health, safety and environment policies, to achieve full compliance with the relevant legislation, including H&S investigations.
* Manage resources, both people and machinery, to provide a satisfactory level of service to customers for landside and shipside operations
* Leadership and development of the workshop engineering team to imbed a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
* Manages the delivery of work plans, challenged ways of working and tracked progress against plans promoting appropriate actions for any shortfalls.
* Developing shift rotas and approving annual leave bookings.
Asset Management
* Provide input to the Asset Management strategic plan, understanding the link to business unit goals and Asset Management strategies
Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills
* Strong expertise in Engineering with relevant senior/management experience required
* HNC qualification desired although relevant experience will also be considered
* Has a detailed understanding of cost benefit and risk analysis and has used this to prepare business cases and plans (costs, risks and benefits of competing options).
* Able to identify and classify risks, analyse causal factors and potential impacts and to prioritise risks for appropriate analysis and control.
* Able to specify functional and technical requirements for information systems in own work area.
* Understands the interrelationships of different business processes with a strong customer focus.
* Ability to plan, organise and prioritise, in a pressured environment
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
* Ability to manage, motivate and develop people and inspire company vision and culture.
* Ability to demonstrate qualities of leadership, integrity, fairness and consistency.
* Understanding of the need for Asset Management plans, and able to contribute to their development;
* Understand the principles of prioritising competing investment projects and producing a business case (cost, benefits and risks of a proposed solution).
* Ability to monitor the effectiveness of planning processes and plans and identified corrective actions;
* Ability to identify and classify risks, analyse causal factors and potential impacts in own work area;
* Understanding of the importance of quality data, working to information standards and participation in the conversion of data to valuable business information.
