Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: 22.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday between 07:45 to 09:00, 14:45 to 18:00 and various shifts between 07:30 to 18:00 during school holidays
Location: Donibristle Primary School
Responsibilities
* Plan, facilitate and supervise a wide range of play‑based activities and social experiences both in and outdoors. This will include setting up the play space to ensure it is safe, stimulating and welcoming.
* Empower children to lead their own play, guiding them as needed to boost their creativity and independence.
* Support children to prepare healthy snacks in line with dietary and nutritional needs and guidelines.
* Support and encourage children to build confidence, self‑esteem, and lifelong skills through play and exploration.
* Deal with accidents and incidents, responding calmly and professionally, ensuring children’s health and wellbeing needs are met.
* Obtain and maintain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
* Apply for and maintain SSSC registration within required timelines; must complete any necessary qualification within the specified timeframe.
* Start application process for registration as soon as possible after appointment and ensure registration within three months to start duties.
* Complete any additional qualifications required for SSSC membership within the specified timeframe.
Qualifications
* Experience of working with children and young people of all ages.
* Relevant childcare qualification, or willingness to work towards one as required by the Scottish Social Services Council.
* Reliable, good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures.
